Abstract
We correct a statement in J. Opt. Soc. Am. B 30, 2215 (2013) [CrossRef] , which can be misleading when a substrate is present. The numerical results presented in J. Opt. Soc. Am. B 30, 2215 (2013) [CrossRef] are consistent with the revised statement.

Below Eq. (1) in Ref. [1], the statement “ is the incident electric field (a three dimensional vector)” should be replaced by the following:
is the electric field in the absence of scatterers, which takes the form , where () is an incident (reflected) wave vector in the ambient. [] and denote the -component reflection and transmission coefficients for the multilayer system without scatterers.
