Generation of 400 μW at 17.5 µm using a two-color Yb fiber chirped pulse amplifier: erratum

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

An Erratum is presented to correct the reported [Opt. Lett. 36, 1080 (2011) [CrossRef]  ] power of the generated long wavelength, mid-infrared power.

© 2018 Optical Society of America

The mid-infrared (MIR) power level of 400 µW [1] at a wavelength of 18μm was erroneously measured using a HgCdTe photoconductive detector. The detectivity of the HgCdTe detector was misunderstood when used with an amplifier. We have now measured the mid-infrared power with a thermal detector and have determined that the published power level was too high by a factor of 50. The correct MIR power generated from the two-color fiber laser systems would be just 8 µW.
