Observations, Ray-Tracing, and Data Assimilation in the Assessment and Visualization of Aerosols, Clouds, and Land Surface in Numerical Models

Abstract

A 3-dimensional ray-tracing package was developed to create visually realistic, model-simulated images of weather and the land surface. The software is used to create and evaluate observationally based digital analyses of cloud and aerosol properties, and visualize the model environment.
