Imaging of Large Water Drops During Laser Heating and Vaporization

Abstract

Imaging of acoustically levitated single water drops during a high energy laser strike is used to determine drop vaporization rate and surface temperature. Data will be used to facilitate modeling of HEL propagation through rain and sea spray.
