Atmospheric Refractivity Anomalies Induced by Mesoscale von Kármán Vortex Streets

Abstract

We present new findings that indicate that Von Kármán vortex shedding in the wake of mountainous islands is capable of inducing large, refractive index anomalies in the atmospheric boundary layer.
