Abstract

The relation between the incident radiative signal and the electrical output of a radiometric sensor system is analyzed. It is shown that the determination and use of the calibration factor depend on the knowledge of the spatiotemporal and spectral relative distribution functions of the incident source. Three fundamental rules are stated, and the easiest to use particular radiometric system is considered.
