Abstract

The incorporation of a second-stage trumpetlike reflective element at the focal plane of a paraboloidal dish reflector is analyzed to examine the improvement in solar concentration capability. The optimally adapted trumpet compensates for the optical aberrations of the dish and for large f/nos. The consequent concentration capability is comparable to the ideal.
