Abstract

Optical constants, the refractive index and the extinction coefficient, of vacuum evaporated zinc sulfide thin film have been determined over the visible spectrum from 472.7 to 632.8 nm by measuring the oscillatory damping curves using a tunable organic dye laser with our previously reported waveguide method. The values so determined are compared with earlier data.
