Abstract

A method of passively correcting or adjusting the figure of a mirror is to deform the mirror by applying moments at specific points on the back surface. These moments can be applied by a simple system of posts and springs. The analysis of such systems is facilitated by considering these systems as elements of a linear vector space. The design and analysis of these systems of posts and springs are described.
