Abstract

In degenerate four-wave mixing (DFWM) in BSO crystal, a sinusoidally varying electric field of the form E0 + E1 cos(ωet + ψ), the E0 > E1 was applied to the crystal instead of the conventional means of frequency modulating the reference wave to make a real-time spectral analysis of the vibrating object. The DFWM operation is low-pass filtering of the incident object field times the electric field and phase conjugation of the result. Basic experiments were made with an experimental system including an image detection and processing subsystem. The optical field focused by virtue of phase conjugation is the sum of two image fields representing the spectral components of frequencies ω = 0 and ω = ωe, so that the image of ω = 0 was obtained separately and used to extract the image of ω = ωe. The principle and basic experimental results are presented.
