Analytical evaluation of PSI response

Abstract

A method of analytically evaluating particle sizing interferometer response is derived by assuming that the measurement volume is determined only from the field of view of a photodetector aperture. The method yields weighting factors which can be used to normalize the measurement volume in terms of particle cross section. In this way volume normalized particle size distribution determinations can be obtained from scattered light measurements using nonuniform incident illumination.
