Abstract
A scanning laser microscope for biological research is described, in which an acoustooptical deflector is used to observe the specimens in real time. High-contrast clear images of nondyed bacilli are obtained. A minute structure of a human chromosome which is hardly recognizable with a conventional optical microscope is clearly obtained.
