Inherently injected unstable resonators

Abstract

The geometrical theory of resonators having nonuniform magnification is extended to include a magnification function which is singular at the resonator axis. A hole naturally occurs in one mirror through which all eigenrays are injected. In theory, no portion of the injected beam is reflected back through the hole, so the reference oscillator is isolated. The geometrical modes, eigenvalues, and mirror sag functions are derived for two such resonators.
