Improved nonlinear regression analysis for the single-resonance Sellmeier equation

Abstract

A modified nonlinear regression technique has been developed. A damping term is introduced in the Sellmeier equation representing anomalous dispersion. Values for this damping term and other constants in the dispersion equation are evaluated from the regression analysis. Calculated refractive-index values for several materials are shown to be in close agreement with measurements.
