Abstract

An instrument is described which automatically records the polarization of fluorescence as a function of the wavelength of exciting light. Ancillary functions are to record absorption spectra and corrected excitation and emission spectra. Essentially, the instrument comprises a flexible ratio recorder, incorporating analog computing elements, which is capable of generating a variety of ratios from two primary signals. The optical arrangements are designed to provide the appropriate signals for the required ratio.
