Abstract

Double-layer ThF4–ZnS coatings on a prism of KCl, KBr, and KI are optimized to give totally reflecting quarter-wave retarders at a wavelength of 10.6 μm. The influence on the design parameters of the light absorption occurring at high temperatures is described.
