Optical waveguide laser using an rf sputtered Nd:glass film

Abstract

Nd:glass optical waveguides were fabricated on silicon substrates by rf sputtering. Lasing was achieved at a wavelength of 1.05 μm with a dye laser pump threshold of ~100 mW.
