Abstract
A multipath cell using a modified White mirror system has been operated as an amplifier and as an oscillator at the 10.6-μ CO2 transition of the CO2–N2 gas laser. An oscillator tube efficiency of 33% and an amplifier power gain of 8.7 have been obtained. With a specific gas mixture, the amplifier saturated output power is approximately one-half that of the maximum oscillator output.
