Spectral Properties of Clouds from 2.5 μ to 3.5 μ

Abstract

On the basis of simple models, the observed spectral reflectance properties of sunlit high altitude clouds in the 2.5–3.5-μ region are related, in decreasing order of importance, to the scattering properties of water droplets and ice crystals, absorption by ir active gases entrained within the cloud, and atmospheric transmission over the sun–cloud path.
