Experimental prototype to study a low-cost optical encoder wich takes advantage of the polarization properties of light. Manufactured with four phases to provide excellent accuracy, precision, and resolution in measuring angular positions utilizing a phase shifting algorithm. For details, see Alvarez-Rodríguez and Alcalá Ochoa, pp. 9450–9458.
