Feature Issue of Applied Optics

Information Photonics 2023

Submission Opens: 2 January 2024

Submission Deadline: 15 March 2024

Applied Optics welcomes submissions to a feature issue on "Information Photonics" in conjunction with the Information Photonics 2023 (IP'23) International Conference, which took place on 8 - 9 September 2023 in Taipei, Taiwan. Whereas meeting participants are particularly encouraged to submit their work, the feature issue is open to all contributions in related areas.

Information photonics is an emerging field that includes state-of-the-art methods, devices, models, and applications related to the use of optics and photonics in information acquisition, processing, display, and other information techniques. Although information optics covers a wide range of topics, this feature issue will highlight work in advanced and unconventional techniques of imaging and display. Particularly, works on practical applications in biomedicine, factory settings, and consumer products are welcomed.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Light-field technique
  • Metalens-based imaging
  • Single-pixel imaging
  • Digital holography
  • Compressive imaging
  • Ptychography
  • Holographic display
  • Volumetric display
  • Aerial display
  • VR / AR/ MR display
  • Artificial Intelligence (AI) optics
  • Internet of things (IoT) optics
  • Advanced devices for applications of information photonics

All submissions need to present original, previously unpublished work and will be subject to the normal standards and peer review processes of the journal. The standard Applied Optics Article Publication Charges will apply to all published articles. To be eligible for publication, an expanded conference paper needs to add value to the original conference proceedings and the conference paper number must be included in the cover letter at submission. Please see Optica Publishing Group's guidelines on expanded conference papers for details.

Please prepare manuscripts according to the author instructions for submission to Applied Optics and submit through the Prism submission system, specifying from the drop-down menu that the manuscript is for the feature issue on Information Photonics 2023 (IP23).
