Feature Issue of Applied Optics

Latin America Optics and Photonics 2022

Applied Optics welcomes submissions to a feature issue on “Latin America Optics & Photonics” in conjunction with the Latin America Optics & Photonics Conference, which will take place on 7-11 August 2022 at Mar Hotel Conventions Recife in Recife Pernambuco, Brazil. The feature issue will cover optics and photonics research in fields critical to Latin America and will highlight, in particular, the latest research results that are making an impact in fundamental research and applications. Whereas meeting participants are particularly encouraged to submit their work, the feature issue is open to contributions from other authors in Latin America.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Optical Design, Instrumentation and Metrology
  • Optics in Information and Quantum Science
  • Nonlinear Optics
  • Atomic Physics and Laser Spectroscopy
  • Biophotonics and Biomedical Applications
  • Laser Science and Technology
  • Random Lasers and Random Fiber Lasers
  • Optics and Green Photonics in Energy, Industry and Infrastructure
  • Optical Communications and Optical Signal Processing
  • Optical Fibers and Sensing Technologies
  • Metamaterials and Metasurfaces
  • Integrated Optics and Nanophotonics
  • 2D Materials
  • Imaging Processing, Color and Vision
  • Other Multidisciplinary Applications of Photonics (including imaging processing, color and vision)

All submissions need to present original, previously unpublished work and will be subject to the normal standards and peer review processes of the journal. The standard Applied Optics Article Publication Charges will apply to all published articles. To be eligible for publication, an expanded conference paper needs to add value to the original conference proceedings and the conference paper number must be included in the cover letter at submission. Please prepare manuscripts according to the author instructions for submission to Applied Optics and submit through our electronic submission system, specifying from the drop-down menu that the manuscript is for the feature issue on Latin America Optics & Photonics.
