Feature Issue of Applied Optics

Optics Theory and Practice in Iberoamerica

Submission Opens: 15 October 2019
Submission Deadline: 15 November 2019

Applied Optics welcomes submissions to a feature issue on "Optics Theory and Practice in Iberoamerica" in conjunction with the Iberoamerican Optics Meeting (RIAO), the Latinoamerican Meeting in Optics, Lasers and Applications (OPTILAS), and the Mexican Optics and Photonics Meeting (MOPM) in Cancn, Mxico on 23-27 September 2019. Whereas meeting participants are particularly encouraged to submit their work, the feature issue is open to all contributions in related areas.

This issue will highlight work of scientists and engineers interested in the theory and applications of optics conducted in Iberoamerica.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Atmospheric and ocean optics
  • Atomic and molecular physics
  • Biophotonics and biomedical applications
  • Coherence and statistical optics
  • Diffraction and gratings
  • Fiber optics, sensors, and optical communications
  • Fourier optics and signal processing
  • Geometric optics
  • Digital holography
  • Image processing, vision, and artificial intelligence
  • Imaging systems
  • Instrumentation, measurement, and metrology
  • Integrated optics
  • Lasers and laser optics
  • Machine vision
  • Materials processing with lasers
  • Medical optics and biotechnology
  • Microscopy
  • Nano photonics and metamaterials
  • Nonlinear optics
  • Novel optical materials and 3D printing
  • Optics in computing
  • Optical data storage
  • Optical design and fabrication
  • Optical devices
  • Optical micro and nano manipulation including optofluidics and microfluidics
  • Optics at surfaces
  • Optics and photonics in the industry
  • Optoelectronics, detectors, and sources
  • Organic and hybrid optoelectronics
  • Physical optics
  • Quantum optics
  • Remote sensing and sensors
  • Scattering
  • Spectroscopy
  • Thin films
  • THz, microwave, and millimeter-wave photonics
  • Ultrafast optics
  • Vision, color, and visual optics
  • X-ray optics

All submissions need to present original, previously unpublished work and will be subject to the normal standards and peer review processes of the journal. The standard Applied Optics Publication Charges will apply to all published articles. To be eligible for publication, an expanded conference paper needs to add value to the original conference proceedings and the conference paper number must be included in the cover letter at submission. Please see OSA's guidelines on expanded conference papers for details.

Please prepare manuscripts according to the author instructions for submission to Applied Optics and submit through OSA's electronic submission system, specifying from the drop-down menu that the manuscript is for the feature issue on Optics Theory and Practice in Iberoamerica.
