The Use of ATR Techniques to Evaluate UV Degradation of Plastics

Abstract

The ultraviolet degradation rates of inhibited and uninhibited polycarbonates were determined using attenuated total reflectance techniques of infrared analysis. The changes which occurred are related to possible structural transformations. The degree of degradation was determined as a function of penetration thickness.
