Spectrochemical Determination of Water in Minerals and Rocks

Abstract

The direct determination of water in minerals and rocks using dc-arc emission spectrography is described. A precision of ±8% or better is attained over a concentration range of ∼1%–20% H<sub>2</sub>O. Electrodes of a special design are used and careful control of absorbed moisture is required.
