Abstract

Emission spectrographic studies of lithium niobate, both as starting material and as undoped single crystals, have confirmed the presence of iron in all samples. A quantitative procedure for the determination of this impurity has been developed, and iron contents of the order of 10 ppm and greater are reported for the samples analyzed.
