Abstract

The competing cavity dye lasers (CCDL) are capable of generating pulses which are 20-40 times shorter than the duration of the pumping pulses. The advantages of CCDLs are their simplicity and reliability. Until now, the CCDL was excited by N2 or excimer lasers, and the repetition rate was too low (up to ~ 100 pps) for the time-correlated single-photon counting technique (TCSPC). In this paper, a high-repetition-rate (10 kHz) short-pulse CCDL pumped by a Cu-vapor laser is described.
