Abstract

The ultraviolet (UV) spectra of the helium (He) afterglow and mixed gas helium-neon (He-Ne) and helium-argon (He-Ar) afterglows are presented. The effect of Ne and Ar on the He afterglow background spectrum and on the selectivities (versus carbon) for sulfur and phosphorus detection in the UV region is discussed.
