Abstract

In this study we present experimental results from absorption, excitation, and luminescence spectroscopy which enable us to account for the concentration quenching of near-ultraviolet emission in Cs2NaTmCl6. The thulium ions are situated at sites of octahedral symmetry in this compound, forming a model system for the investigation of energy transfer phenomena.
