Abstract

A 40-MHz ICP was equipped with a novel sample introduction system capable of introducing monodisperse droplets into the plasma with 100% efficiency. The analytical performance of the system was investigated by using two different synchronous detection techniques. The detection limits determined for Ba with ensemble averaging and with boxcar averaging were 0.048 ng/mL and 0.063 ng/mL, respectively. Signal stability in time, effect of the matrix on barium ionic emission intensity, vertical emission profiles from a multicomponent solution, and washout time of the system were also studied.
