Abstract

A new design procedure for multisection distributed Bragg reflector (DBR) lasers is presented and it has been applied to the design of two-section devices lasing at ITU frequencies only by grating current injection. The validity of the solution has been compared with respect to a nonoptimized structure and the possibility to compensate the device realization errors with only a fixed heat sink temperature change equal for all the channels has been analyzed.
