Abstract

Upstream burst-mode (BM) reception in a passive optical network (PON) creates unusual bit error patterns. We evaluate a model of burst-mode signal recovery, and experimentally demonstrate fast decision threshold tracking via digital equalization for 25-Gb/s BM reception.
