Abstract

We address the problem of providing delay guarantees for virtual circuits comprising variable-length packets in wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) passive optical networks. A centralized controller is used for regulating and scheduling traffic from multiple client nodes. A round-robin earliest available time-scheduling algorithm is used for scheduling packet transmission. An analytical model for delay bounding is provided by use of filtering theory under (max,+) algebra. Shift-varying filtering theory under (max,+) algebra is introduced for time-dependent traffic models.
