Abstract

Feature Issue on Optical Access Networks

The wide deployment of fiber-optic and WDM technologies has dramatically increased the bandwidth capability in metropolitan area networks and wide area networks. Optical access solutions, such as FTTB, FTTC, and FTTH, promise huge bandwidth to service providers and end users, and have therefore widely been considered the technology of choice for future access networks. The purpose of this feature issue is to present a collection of papers that reflect recent research advances in optical access networks.
