Abstract
To facilitate the final correction of an optical system, formulas are developed using the intermediate data obtained by ray tracing. For each aberration the expressions obtained contain constants of the system multiplied by certain partial magnifications corresponding to the different surfaces. The use of such expressions is shown to require much less computation than orthodox methods. It is also shown that in this approach to the problem the optical system can be divided into two parts of which the one contains the focal length of the whole system and the other stands for the state of correction of the whole system.
