Compensation of Flexure in Instruments with any Number of Lenses

Abstract

Formulas are derived for the image movement caused by small decentrations of a multilens system. It is shown that for a given decentration there exist nodal and principal points. A new axis can be defined in such a way that the usual projective paraxial laws still hold. Formulas are included for the case where the object is at infinity.
