Abstract
A split-beam system of spectrophotometry is described in which each of the two beams is modulated at a different frequency. A single photomultiplier is used as a detector. Separation and amplification of the two frequencies are effected by tuned amplifiers. Percent transmission versus wavelength data is recorded automatically in the region 2050A to 4000A using a hydrogen discharge lamp, and in the region 3200A to 7000A using a tungsten lamp as a source. Either of these ranges is scanned in less than ten minutes and the accuracy at an optical density of 2 is about ten percent. The optical system of the commercial monochromator used is in no way altered.
