Images of Incoherently Illuminated Bright and Opaque Disks

Abstract

Formulas are obtained for the images of incoherently illuminated bright and opaque disks under the assumptions of scalar diffraction theory. Results are given in graphical form for disks with diameters of the same order of magnitude as the Airy disk and applied to problems of flying spot microscopy.
