Abstract
The total reflectances for the spectral region 254 mμ to 1100 mμ of goldblack deposits and several other low-reflecting materials have been determined from the angular distribution of the reflectance. Reflectances in the visible spectrum were also obtained using an integrating sphere. All substances examined, except optical-black-lacquer, were found to have immeasurable specular reflectance at all the wavelengths measured.
These measurements together with long wavelength reflectance measurements of goldblack deposits indicate that such deposits contain a relatively large number of scattering units between ~0.2μ and 8μ. Additional measurements, presented here, including the angular distribution of the forward scattering in the visible spectrum, give results in agreement with the above.
