Abstract

A photographic lens has been analyzed by three methods of photoelectric photometry: a spot scanner, a knife-edge scan, and a sine wave scanner. The study indicates the superiority of the sine wave response method for evaluating how the lens will reproduce sine waves. The knife-edge scan, however, contains all the information and for lens testing may be the simplest test yet described.
