Abstract

A method for the choice of glasses for an apochromatic system consisting of three lenses in contact with each other is developed. Applied graphically the method, although simple, is effective in selecting those glasses which give the smallest powers possible with a good distribution of power between the first and third lenses. It is also shown how the method can be applied analytically.
