Abstract
A comparative method of abridged spectroradiometry using a detector and two filters is analyzed mathematically and two criteria of validity are established. One of these can be tested if the spectral distributions of detector response and filter transmission are known. The other requires, in addition, the knowledge of the maximum difference in spectral energy distributions between the sources being compared.
