Abstract

Measurements, made over a period of several years, of the ultraviolet energy and spectral distribution along with the total energy of sunlight in Stamford, Connecticut, have been summarized and evaluated. The relative distribution was obtained at a 2° 23′ field of view of the sun using the heliostat and calibrated Bausch & Lomb monochromator–photomultiplier combination. Ferrioxalate actinometry at about a 23° field of view was used to determine the absolute ultraviolet energy. A G.E. Radiation Meter was used to measure the total energy of sunlight coincident with the ultraviolet measurements.
