Light Distribution in the Defocused Image of a Coherently Illuminated Edge

Abstract

Scalar diffraction theory is used to obtain an integral which expresses the irradiance in the defocused image of a coherently illuminated edge. This integral is evaluated numerically and the results are given for six values of defocusing.
