Beam–Foil Excitation of Multiply Ionized Neon

Abstract

The beam-foil technique has been used to obtain an excited ionized neon beam. Spectroscopic investigations in the wavelength range 2000–6000 Å have revealed many new lines due to multiply ionized neon. The degree of ionization is determined by the variation of the intensity of the lines with the energy. Furthermore, we have measured the lifetimes of some excited levels of Nen+ ions. The preliminary results agree with the data given by other authors.
