Abstract
The Fourier-transform formalism of the sampling theorem in the frequency domain has been used in a coherent optical processor to obtain multiple reproduction of space-limited functions. Some useful results bearing on the physical processes involved have been derived. Experimental results obtained with a simple two-dimensional space-limited function and a practical sampling function have been presented to confirm some of the theoretical predictions. The over-all efficiency of the technique has been briefly discussed and another possible application has been pointed out.
