Abstract
Scattering cross sections were measured with the method of Gill and Heddle, but with dispersed incident flux. These measurements constitute a sensitive test for the presence of rare-gas quasimolecules. The ratio of Ar2 to Ar at 100 torr was deduced to be 8.6 × 10−5. At 1090 Å the molecular cross section is estimated to be 1.6 × 10−18 cm2. The attenuation cross section is 8.0 × 10−18 cm2.
