Holographic Encoding with Completely Incoherent Light

Abstract

Information about the depth dimension can be stored in photographic recordings of ordinary scenes by introducing a camera movement and a shutter modulation during the exposure. Each object point is recorded as a one-sided zone-plate pattern where the focal length of the zone plate is related to the depth location of the point. This recording is equivalent to a hologram and the object can be reconstructed using coherent light and conventional holographic techniques. Experimental verification of the scheme is shown.
