Abstract
Light of perfect spatial coherence may be generated by a finite system of passive filters. The propagator for the mutual intensity must be the product of two functions, each depending on the coordinates of just one image point. Particular cases are discussed, and the theory is illustrated using an apodized form of a grating system due to Lohmann.
