Abstract

The low levels of the four basic configurations of doubly ionized erbium 4f12(3H6, 5, 3F4), 4f11(I712)5d, 4f11(I712,612)6s, and 4f11(I712,612)6p are reported. More than a hundred Er iii lines are classified by 24 odd and 18 even levels. Values for the spin–orbit parameters obtained directly from the observed levels are ζ6p = 3743 cm−1, ζ5d =1326 cm−1.
